Spent the morning at the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly in San Juan, in a program that saw our Spark Amber agents pit wits, singing and dancing talents with the lolas of the place.

Dubbed “Love Ko Si Lola,” the program is the first outreach activity for Spark Amber Branch. After their morning calisthenics, the lolas played mental gymnastics with Spark Amber agents. Their knowledge was challenged in games such as Scatter-gories, Ask-a-thon and Earth, Water, Air and Fire.

They also participated in a regular staple of Little Sisters: Pinoy Henyo.

The last part of the show saw Spark Amber agents and lolas alike stretch their vocal chords and put on their dancing shoes in several song numbers to the delight of everyone.

The Little Sisters for the abandoned Elderly is home to a hundred grandmothers and has been operating for 10 years now. Spark Amber chose to conduct an outreach program with them because the institution is in dire need of support, both financial and material, to support the lolas, one third of whom are sick or bed-ridden.

Before everyone broke for lunch, we had generous helpings of selfies and groufies with the lolas. We also left behind several boxes of food items, donated by Spark Amber agents, for the lolas’ daily meals.

All in all, a fun and meaningful morning with the Little Sisters that allowed Spark Amber agents at the end of this love month to express in words and in deed: “love ko si lola.”
